Hill Harper is the author of three New York Times bestsellers: Letters to a Young Brother, Letters to a Young Sister, and The Conversation. Letters to a Young Brother was named “Best Book for Young Adults” by the American Library Association in 2007, and to date, his collective work has been recognized with three NAACP Image Awards: Outstanding Literary Work: Debut Author (2007) and Outstanding Literary Work: Youth/Teens (2007, 2008). Hill currently stars on the hit television drama CSI:NY as Dr. Sheldon Hawkes; internationally, CSI is the most successful television franchise in history. He has also appeared in numerous prime-time television shows and feature films, including The Sopranos, ER, The Game, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Lackawanna Blues, He Got Game, The Skulls, In Too Deep, The Nephew, and The Visit. He is the founder of the Manifest Your Destiny Foundation, dedicated to empowering, encouraging, and inspiring underserved youth to succeed through mentorship, scholarship and grant programs. Hill graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. from Brown University (and was valedictorian of his department) and cum laude with a J.D. from Harvard Law School. He also holds a master’s degree with honors from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. Hill travels frequently as a motivational speaker and resonates with a wide range of audiences including youth, adults, and couples. Named one of People’s Sexiest Men Alive, he lives in Los Angeles.

ABOUT TARAJI
Taraji Henson earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress opposite Brad Pitt in David Fincher’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. She starred in Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself and received the 2009 Diversity Award for Best Actress for her performance. Taraji costars in Date Night with Tina Fey and Steve Carrell set to be released on April 9th. She recently completed filming Columbia Pictures’ The Karate Kid opposite Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan, which will be released on June 11th. Taraji plays Rainn Wilson’s love interest in the upcoming indie comedy Peep World.

In the indie drama Once Fallen, Taraji costars with Ed Harris and Brian Presley. She starred in Sony’s Not Easily Broken opposite Morris Chestnut, opposite Forest Whitaker in Hurricane Season, and with Kathy Bates in Tyler Perry’s The Family That Preys.

Henson received rave reviews for her role in Focus Features’ Talk to Me opposite Don Cheadle. She costarred in the ensemble action drama Smokin’ Aces with Ben Affleck and Alicia Keys. Henson was named Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Feature Film by the Black Movie Awards and received the BET Best Actress nod for her performance as Shug in the gutsy drama Hustle & Flow also starring Terrence Howard.

Henson made her singing debut in Hustle & Flow and performed the Academy Award-winning song, “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp,” on the Oscar telecast. She reunited for the third time with John Singleton to film Four Brothers with Mark Wahlberg and Andre 3000 for Paramount Pictures. Henson costarred with Simon Baker and Sanaa Lathan in Focus Features’ Something New. Henson is well remembered for her role as Yvette opposite Tyrese in Baby Boy.

On television, she was a series regular on David E. Kelly’s Boston Legal and recurred on ABC’s Eli Stone. Taraji was featured in Jamie Foxx’s video, “Just Like Me,” and also appeared in Estelle’s video, “Pretty Please.”

Born and raised in Washington, D.C., the Howard University graduate resides in Los Angeles with her son. Henson has a strong dedication to helping disabled and less fortunate children and reveals, “I always stress to kids to have faith in themselves—the greatest recipe for success is self confidence.”

Attention Models and Dancers Hollywood Stylz Unisex Productions are holding auditions today (2/1/10) from 9am-8pm for the hair and fashion show for the 2010 Womens Empowerment Expo . It will be held at at 4125 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd in Durham, NC off of hwy 15-501. They are looking for all shapes and sizes from ages 9 and up. Registration is $25.00 dollars. The Women’s Empowerment 2010 Talent Auditions have been postponed for a later date. The alternate date will soon be announced. Registration begins at 9:00am and auditions will immediately begin after registration is complete. Only the first 100 applicants will get a chance to audition, so get there early! This year in addition to our local performing artists, we are looking to audition dance troops to specifically create a routine as a tribute to Michael Jackson at this year’s Women’s Empowerment 2010. The first 25 dance troops present will audition to perform a tribute to Michael Jackson. There is a registration fee of $15.00 (CASH ONLY) for any group or individual audition.

Radio One Raleigh WE’ 2010 Eligibility Requirements

Please note: the following eligibility requirements and terms must be met in order to proceed with the application process for Women’s Empowerment Expo 2010.

1. You must be over the age of 18 at the time of your audition. If you are under the age of 18 you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

2. All participants must be present to win.

3. You are required to perform one routine/song/poem/dance/etc. The judges have the right to stop your performance at 60 seconds or at their discretion.
4. Singers, poets, and hip-hop artists are required to perform acapella.

5. Dancers are able to perform with or without music. Performers must provide any props, music, instruments or any other items you will need during your performance.

4. You will need to fill out and have all the appropriate signatures on the Official Radio One Inc. dba Radio One Raleigh Women’s Empowerment 2010 Release and Waiver Form and Women’s Empowerment 2010 Contestant Application.

5. Finalists are chosen by a panel of judges based on score and at the judges’ discretion. If you have a current contract with an agent, even if it is not related to music, you are not eligible to participate.

7. Finalist who have won spots as performers at previous Women’s Empowerment Expo event are not eligible to compete again for 2 years.

8. Radio One Inc. dba Radio One Raleigh reserves the right to add, cancel and/or substitute other cities as audition locations.

9. If you are chosen to be a participant, it is your responsibility to make any necessary arrangements with your employer and family in anticipation of your extended absence from home or work. If you should win you will be provided with more details.

10. You must be a United States citizen and live in the United States.

11. You must not now be a candidate for public office, and if selected as a participant, you must agree not to become a candidate for public office until after the initial broadcast of all programs in which you appear.

12. By applying for participation in the show, you authorize the Producers to conduct civil, criminal, financial, driver-history and any other type of background checks deemed necessary by the Producers.
